Scientists in the Family: New Haven Grand Marquee Event
We are partnering with the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History on a 2-hour public “Scientists in the Family Grand Marquee” performance event for May 10, 2025. In this event, a curated selection of participants, featuring Black scientists, researchers, graduate students, undergraduates, and high school students will share their family photos, blown up on big screen, and family stories with the live audience. The audience will be made up of their families, extended families, neighbors, friends, co-workers, and members of the public curious to know more about their fellow community folk and how STEM is connected to their everyday lives. By the end of this event, presenters and audience members will create a new communal narrative of STEM engagement rooted in their local community, engage in the collective discovery of little-known Black STEM stories, and forge a special connection to our common humanity.
